Every painting is a portal into the unseen. I like to share what I perceive through the medium of oil painting in words that might be helpful to others. That’s one of the things that I offer on my Patreon blog when you subscribe at the Artistic Vision tier (or above). It’s a way to go a little deeper with the paintings and helps to support the continuation of my work.

Here is an excerpt from my article about this painting, “The Milk of Maia,” in which I explore intuition and timing in the creative process, the Throat Chakra as an energetic center of purification, discernment of the will, as well as Mercury, Maia, and the Virgin’s Milk:

It is the separation of the soul from the body, the visible from the invisible, the male from the female, and of all polarities that can be conceived. On a psychological level we use separation to discern the parts of ourselves that are really us and what we’ve acquired from others, whether that be our parents, family, friends, or societal influences. It can be apocalyptic like a shamanic dismemberment, or it can be a slow drip through a filter or funnel as you slowly become clearer and clearer about who you are in the world…”
